New Fun and Crazy Quilter's Quilt Show, Mukwonago

Danscapes - new fabrics from RJR

A few weeks ago, a representative from RJR Fabrics contacted me and asked me if I'd like to make some landscapes from their Danscapes fabric line - possibly to be made available as Free Downloads to you all.  I said, "Sure!"  The boxes began arriving... one yard or so of Danscapes I and II collections. How exciting!

There is much to show you and when I get the details I'll share it all. Suffice it to say, I've made one already but I'm not ready to unveil it yet.

Last weekend, a local guild held their anuual quilt show and I took some pictures of interesting and fun quilts for you, that is mostly what this week's blog is about.

I thought this was a neat idea - the combination of crochet and quilt blocks. I like it - wouldn't it be a nice lap quilt to curl up under?

I do not have labels for these quilts, frankly I was just to tired to take all the pictures necessary. If you want to know about one in particular though, leave me a comment and I'll go through the file of high resolution photos I have and see if I can make out the signs.

I was surprised to see the blue ribbon hanging on my quilt. Surprised and very pleased. I've got to make more of these kinds of quilts - they are so much fun to make.

I thought these birds were very nicely done!

I loved her colors!

Blue Ribbon on this one - she set her blocks up in a creative way didn't she?

Halloween quilt - it was cute and all her haunted houses had cute signs. I posted a detail of one below.

Worms Alfredo, gotta love it!

My Carpathian Sunset quilt had a nice ribbon. The First Place ribbon winning quilt was too big and it hung at an angle so I just couldn't get a picture of it.

Winter Birch trees - very very well done!
Here is a detail -

This next quilt was entered in the youth catagory - AND the young girl created her own elephant pattern. Way to go!

Hearts and flowers, perfect for a Valentine's Day sweetheart.

Wow - this star blazes!

Bunnies are the bane of flower gardens but this kind can be kept under control!

They had a special Civil War quilt exhibit and quite a few quilters made quilts using the colors and patterns from the Civil War era.

Gorgeous quilting!
Here is a detail shot -

I was also pleased to see some modern quilts.

Beautiful quilting - and here is a detail photo for you.

Here is another quilt in the youth category - it took me way back to when my kids were little and we'd watch the Muppets on Sesame  Street.
And smiling Kermit is in the middle; it's so sweet
Next week I'll be in Paducah, KY at the big quilt show. Hubby and I are camping and will be enjoying the beautiful spring weather and taking lots of photographs of beautiful masterpiece quilts.

Do you remember this next quilt?

Well, the American Quilter's Society put a book together of all the quilts in the National Quilt Museum's exhibition called "New Quilts from Old Favorites". This year the theme was 9 patch quilts. My quilt was accepted into the show. (Color me HAPPY!)

If you want to meet me face to face - and I'd love to meet you,  I'll be in the National Quilt Museum signing books from 10 - 12 am on Friday the 24th. Come and meet me! Talk to me! Introduce yourself and come look at the gorgeous quilts at the museum.

Needless to say, I won't be blogging next week. I don't even know if I'll have access to WiFi!

I do know that I'll be camping and biking and hiking and eating s'mores over a campfire.

If you are planning to coming to the quilt show just look for me. I'll be the one wandering around in a daze with a camera permanently attached to my eye socket, lol.

Bye for now!

  1. Thanks for sharing all the pictures you took at the quilter's show. The quilt depicting a sunset over a mountain range is amazing. I wish I had the skill to sew quilts with that level of detail. I should stock up on fabric so I can get some more practice. http://www.sewspecialmaui.net/gallery
