Sun Prairie Quilt Show 2016

Come Walk with Me - Best of Show Wall Quilt, Cathy Geier (me!)

Hi all. I know it has been a while since I posted anything. How do you spell 'burn out?!'  I took a break from a lot of my online/social media posts and finished up 2 quilts for RJR and wrote up a pattern for each quilt.  They will be creating kits from my quilts - that is the good news! The bad news is that I can't show you the quilts until July.  Soooo, though I've been a busy bee, I have nothing to show for it. (When the quilt kits come out, I'll  write up some pages here with some of my in progress photos in case you buy a kit and need a little extra help).

In the meantime, here are some of my favorite quilts from the Heritage Quilt Show in Sun Prairie last month.

A Baby Quilt

Baby Emma's Quilt - a closeup of the top

I mentioned in my last post that I made 3 quilts in one month. I can't show you 2 of them until July, but I can show you this one. It was made for a special couple who have been friends with my family for years now and they are expecting their first baby.

Finishing up Projects and More Insects to Elephants

I won a ribbon!
Hi everyone! It has been sooo long since I blogged that I'm not sure how to do it anymore, lol. A couple of months ago RJR contacted me to make them two strip pieced landscape quilts using their batiks. The problem was that I had to have them done by the end of February....

Pink Azaleas - Done and RJR Fun

Pink Azaleas
I finally finished another class project last week. This is for my strip applique class - Striplique? It's kind of a cute name for this method of construction.  Anyway, I finished the quilting but then thought it needed sun rays...

Irises - Done

Irises by Cathy Geier
I managed to get a little quilting done this week - yay me! Today I finish putting the faced binding on this quilt and then I'm on to the next little project I need to finish up.

From Insects to Elephants at the Wisconsin Quilt Museum, Part 1

Inside the Barn
Hi everyone, it is a new year and I'm finally posting again. Last week hubby and I drove up to Cedarburg, Wisconsin and saw the "From Insects to Elephants" exhibit at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts.
But first, I had some thrilling news a couple of weeks ago.

Irises and Sonoma County - Two Quilts to Show You

Irises at Dawn by Cathy Geier
I finished a sample project for my Strip Pieced Landscape quilt class. Well sort of finished, I haven't quilted it yet. The last 3 little quilts I made have yet to be quilted actually. I think I'm a bit burnt out on the quilting part of making quilts. Maybe I should take my old machine in for a tuneup and enjoy the time off?

And get busy baking Christmas cookies and fudge!
